Wood Procurement

Alex Wong has accumulated years of experience in wood selection, and Shijie consistently insists on partnering only with stable and reliable large international wood suppliers. We focus on customising high-quality quarter-sawn wood, with procurement covering maple from Quebec, Canada, wild rosewood from East India, and mahogany from Africa. To ensure quality, Alex personally visits the suppliers' warehouses to handpick suitable tonewood, even at a higher cost.

Humidity Control

After being stored in the warehouse for more than two months, the wood enters a climate-controlled room for further moisture management. Through repeated processing, the moisture content of the wood is finally stabilized at between 7% and 8%, achieving the best balance between tone, resonance, and stability.

Materials Hand-selection

Following the initial cutting of the wood, any pieces with wormholes, mineral streaks, or knots are removed to ensure the aesthetic appeal  and stability of the wood. Despite our meticulous selection process, each piece of wood will still exhibit  variations due to its natural growth. Our master luthiers individually inspects and tests each piece to gain a deeper understanding of each wood's sound characteristics and weight. We then re grade the woods to prepare for the production of different models within the range ensuring as a bare minimum we are still best in class .

Rough Shaping

During the wood cutting phase, we hand-draw and cut the shapes of the neck and body of the guitar, reflecting our commitment to craftsmanship. Each cutting step is performed by experienced luthiers to ensure that every detail meets design specifications, laying a solid foundation for the guitar's construction.

ShijieGuitars

Carbon Fiber Rods

The bonding and reinforcement of the guitar body is a crucial step. After routing the body, we use aerospace-grade carbon fiber rods, employing Shijie's exclusive carbon fiber reinforcement rod embedding technique to provide additional stability. This process not only enhances the strength of the body but also ensures consistent performance during play.

Fingerboard Fabrication

Our creation of the fingerboard is a highly skilled process that relies entirely on handcrafting the wood. This I ncludes the fret slotting, ensuring its accuracy far exceeds the standards of any CNC machine. The fingerboard is then bonded to the neck and tested so we are able to,  guarantee durability and stability. It’s no secret Shijie make the best feeling necks on the market and we are very proud of our reputation for doing so.

Truss Rod

We also utilize industry-leading technology for adjusting the truss rods. As the first electric guitar manufacturer in China to fully adopt American-made premium Wolfgang truss rods  our skills ensure the stability of the guitar during play and in different climates

Sanding Department

ShijieGuitars

The First Step

CNC machines are perfect  for rough milling and creating the template for a consistent shape . They are not in our opinion perfect for the task ahead and are used in the 1st stage only in forming the outline of the guitar .

ShijieGuitars

Machine Sanding

The sanding process is divided into two stages: mechanical and manual. In the Machine Sanding department, our skilled luthiers employ machine sanding techniques. This step ensures that the shape of the neck and the curvature of the fingerboard meet precise standards..

ShijieGuitars

Hand Sanding

The Hand Sanding department is responsible for sanding the guitars to a level of excellence machines  cannot reach. Using high-precision tools from the USA and Japan, along with Standback rulers, we perform fine sanding and adjustments to ensure the absolute precision and accuracy of each guitar.

ShijieGuitars

Fret Finishing

The frets finishing process is the final step after all sanding and polishing. We carefully handle each fret individually, performing manual cutting and polishing to ensure that every guitar's frets are flawless. This process further enhances the overall quality of the instrument, ensuring that each guitar possesses exceptional playability.

First Quality Inspection

The final assembly and quality inspection are the last stages of our process. In the Assemble department, we begin with a comprehensive quality check to ensure that all previous steps have been completed. We handcraft the nut, smoothing the edges and creating slots.

Circuit System

Next we apply a copper foil shielding layer in the electronics compartment ( not paint ) and use precise soldering techniques to ensure perfect solder joints. After tuning and making adjustments to the entire guitar, we perform a factory setup and rework any issues  that do not meet our exacting standards.

Final Quality Inspection

Finally, each guitar undergoes strict inspection by two quality control experts, including Alex Wong, before being packaged and shipped with appropriate case or gig bag. We firmly believe that through over 170 meticulous processes, every electric guitar we produce can deliver stable, high-quality sound and a lasting playing experience. Every detail reflects our dedication to the craft of electric guitars and our passion for music. We are committed to providing every guitarist  with the perfect musical companion that will inspire them to improve and be the best version of themselves possible
